Update: Sassy had an ultrasound and was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Deb has a major migraine, and she and Sassy are going to curl up together for a snuggle and a nap. ~ML

Herman is purring for a good report from the vet, Sassy. I like #3 the best, because a kitty should always take up as much room as possible while napping.

Good luck today, Sassy! My sister Pixie used to go to the cardiologist every 6 months; she told me the test does not hurt a bit, so be brave!

We're purring that your diagnosis of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a mild case. Many humans have it and never even know it.
And Mom says Auntie Deb should drink something with caffeine in it to help with her achey head.

So sorry to hear this... but there are varying degrees. The kind of cat we are Maine Coons- have some HCM in the lines and we were just plain lucky NOT to have it in our lines. We do have a friend who has had 5 HCM cats- all Maine Coons. Do you have someone who you know has had a kitty with it? If not I'm sure my friend Linda would be very helpful to you as she has dealt with it over the years! Please let me know!
We are sorry to hear the diagnosis. We are purring that with medication, Sassy can lead a long and happy life.
We are so thankful the vet caught it early. It is expensive, with the yearly tests and daily meds, but cats can and do live a long, happy life, like we know the spirited Miss Sassy will do.
We are sending lots and lots of purrs to Sassy, and some extra purrs for Mommy Summer and Sisfur Spats, that they didn't inherit this.
